Can this really replace a grooming appointment?
For the de-shedding and brush-out part of a groom — yes, that is exactly what it is built for. A salon visit for a cat runs well over the price of this brush, and most of that visit is someone working loose hair out of the coat with a mist and a comb. PurrMist gives you the same two steps at home, on your own schedule, in the room she is already comfortable in. A full groom with nail work or a bath is still a job for a professional.
What do I put in the reservoir?
Plain water. The reservoir is built into the handle, so you fill it, close it and brush — the mist comes out through the opening in the middle of the head. There is nothing to buy on top of it: no sprays, no solutions, no refill cartridges.
Will the mist scare my cat?
It is a fine mist rather than a spray, released while you brush, so most cats settle into it the way they settle into being petted — the silicone tips are doing a light massage at the same time. Start with a few short passes on her back rather than her face, let her walk away if she wants to, and build up from there. Cats who dig their heels in at the sight of a regular brush usually mind this one far less.
What is it made of, and does it work on long hair or on my dog?
Non-toxic plastic with no high-concern chemicals, with soft silicone tips on the head. It works on cats and dogs, and long coats are where the mist helps most — damp hair separates instead of flying, so the loose undercoat comes away with the brush rather than ending up on the couch. Wipe the head with a damp cloth after a session and let it dry.
The product does not work. When I plug it in to charge, a light turns on for a second, but that's the only thing it does. Even after the charging time, it doesn't turn on. The water compartment is also defective because it leaks. The packaging was also badly damaged. The only positive point is that my cat likes the brush; she found it comfortable.
It's all made of plastic, but it removed the excess hair from my furry cat. I liked it.
I haven't tried it yet, I hope everything will be fine.
